Clothing Industry In Burma

Burma times weekly reported on 20-26 August: according to one

Garment industry

According to professionals, Japan's garment industry has a larger share of the Japanese market in Japan because of its difficulties in recruiting workers in the coastal areas of southern China. Japan's investment in Burma's clothing industry is promising.

The administrative manager of Japan's Foreign Trade Organization in Yangon said

Recruitment

The factories in southern China began to shift to Bangladesh, Kampuchea, Laos and Burma.

In addition, the garment industry in China is also facing difficulties in increasing wages of workers, increasing the cost of clothing materials and raising the living standard of Chinese residents in accordance with the existing labor law of China.

This led to an increase in orders for garment industry in Burma. According to Japanese customs statistics, Burma exported clothing to Japan in 2008, worth 133 million US dollars, and in 2009, 149 million US dollars, the growth rate was 12%.

Last year, 38% of Burma's export garments were exported to the Japanese market.

Myanmar

The largest exporter of clothing.

Labor wages in Burma are lower than those in other neighboring countries, which is a factor to attract foreign investment, but other basic conditions also impede foreign investment.

There are 120 garment factories in Burma. Only 20 manufacturers export clothing to Japan, while only 4 actually invest in Japan.
