This year, in the new German robot factory, Adidas plans to build 500 dual prototype products.

Therefore, in the short term, the robot factory will not replace the current large-scale production process.

Last weekend, Adidas showed the first pair of shoes that were basically made entirely by robots.

Recently, Adidas is joining the global supply chain, which is called the "fast factory" customized robot factory.

Adidas's robot shoe factory in Germany has been completed and is now in operation.

At present, Adidas has outsourced most of its production work to China and other Asian countries.

In these areas, Adidas produces about 300 million pairs a year.

And a large part of it needs manual labor.

But in the long run, the robot factory will reduce the cost of Adidas.

If robots can produce cheaper products faster, then the labor cost advantage of emerging markets such as China and Brazil will disappear.

Enterprises can build factories in local and developed countries.

Here, the main task of workers is to manufacture and maintain factory robots.

Due to China's labor shortage, labor costs have risen, including

Adidas

Companies are pushing production closer to major markets.

Last year, Ford pferred about 3200 manufacturing jobs back to the United States.

Nike announced that it would cooperate with Flex, a high-tech manufacturing company, to introduce automation technology in the supply chain.

However, Nike did not announce the timetable for the plan.

Adidas will launch second in Atlanta in 2017.

Robot manufacturing plant

At that time, the output of robots will be improved.

Adidas expects that the Atlanta plant will be able to produce 50 thousand pairs of sneakers in the second half of next year.

However, this figure is still less than 0.5% of Adidas's supply chain output.

Adidas said that if progress goes smoothly, the robot factory will produce 1 million pairs of sneakers every year in the next few years.

After the commissioning, the Atlanta plant is expected to create 160 new jobs.

Customized robot factories can bring faster product updates.

In Adidas's current factory, it takes weeks to complete a pair of shoes.

By automatization of most production processes, it takes only about 5 hours to produce a pair of sports shoes.

More than 70% of Adidas's sales come from products less than 1 years old.

Although Adidas's robot shoe factory is just beginning, the ability of robot factories to produce products on demand will subvert the current production mode.
