Ancient Greek Sandals is focusing on making all kinds of "bandage shoes".

The brand is designed with wings and shoe buckles.

New IKARIA plastic shoes

"Sandals brand in the market basically has no concept.

Our handmade sandals are primordial and beautiful, with a sense of city and femininity. They are not worn to the beach, nor are they too expensive.

Christina Martini, co founder and creative director, said, "I have always been fond of sandals, which you can find around the Greek islands and the Acropolis in Athens.

I've been thinking about making such sandals.

"When I was traveling, I didn't mind buying sandals at shops in spots, but usually I would throw them away at the end of summer, because the quality was not very good."

Before the establishment of Ancient Greek Sandals, Christina Martini made shoes design in Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton respectively, and then she met her partner Minoglou Nikolas and started her own business.

But in the first and a half years when the brand was created, two people regarded it as a part time job.

Christina Martini went to Cordwainers College in London to study, while Minoglou Nikolas went to Babson College to get an MBA degree.

But then, obviously, Ancient Greek Sandals is not only a part time job.

In Greece, where the economy was sluggish and the unemployment rate reached 26.8% in 2013 years, the output of the brand increased from 26 thousand pairs to 45 thousand pairs, achieving a 73% year-on-year sales growth.

Now, the brand has been sold in Colette, Barneys, Selfridges, Le Bon March e, and has also entered Net-a-Porter, Mytheresa.com, Matchesfashion.com and other electricity providers, and its own sales account for 15% of brand sales.

Ancient Greek Sandals all shoes are hand-made in a small factory in Crete, Greece.

Since its establishment in 2012, it has launched 19 series of WOVEN series, including the series of WINGS series, the series of Leaves with "wings", and the series of designs made of leaves.

The newly launched IKARIA plastic shoes have 12 colors, using the most classic brand "bandage" and "wing" elements.

However, the price of Ancient Greek Sandals is not cheap. IKARIA is the cheapest shoe with a price of 80 euros.

"We are not a fashion brand, we want to become a sandal brand."
