According to 27 reports, Brazil textile industry Workers and entrepreneurs staged a demonstration in St Paul on 27 March to protest the "unfair competition" of China's imports.

Protesters blocked the main street near a convention center in northern St Paul. The China Textile Import and export chamber is holding an international textile procurement exhibition there.

Protesters crucified the middle of the street to symbolize the "death" of the 14 thousand jobs in Brazil's textile industry over the past year.

Brazil Fernando Valente, chairman of the textile industry association, said: "China is willing to become a world factory according to its own plan, and has begun to bear fruit, but we think this way of receiving is not appropriate."

Valente stressed that Chinese manufacturers play with labor laws, pollution indices and tax policies, which are contrary to the interests of Brazilians.

Data from the Ministry of development, industry and foreign trade of Brazil showed that the import volume of textiles in Brazil increased by 25 times in the past 10 years. Textile imports in the first 9 months of 2014 increased by 5.7% and exports decreased by 6.1%.

A textile worker in Brazil said that since the 90s of last century, there has been a continuous loss of jobs and the closure of businesses in St Paul's textile industry.

According to inquiries, on the 27 day, the second Brazil St Paul international textile and garment exhibition was held at St Paul North exhibition hall. About 170 manufacturers from 9 countries and regions took part in the fashion show, including products of yarn, cloth and garments.

Roberto, President of Brazil Industrial Association, believes that the cost of textile industry in Brazil is relatively high, and its external competitiveness is weak. Chinese textiles entering Brazil will bring more cost-effective fabrics to Brazil garment manufacturers, and will also have a certain impact on Brazil's lower end industries. He believes that Brazil enterprises should strive to improve product design capabilities, build brands, make good use of China's high-quality cloth, and form an advantage in the upstream industry chain to promote the healthy development of Brazil's textile industry.

It is reported that Brazil's textile industry is not the first time to protest against Chinese commodities' "job grabbing". Last year's (end of October 2013), Brazil's domestic textile and garment industry also protested, demanding that Chinese products leave Brazil.

China is the largest textile in Brazil. clothing Brazil is currently the nineteenth largest importer in China's export market. In the 5 years from 2008 to 2012, bilateral textile and garment trade expanded by 1.3 times. According to customs statistics, in 2013, China's textile exports to Brazil amounted to 2 billion 370 million US dollars, an increase of 7.5%, and clothing exports of US $1 billion 750 million, an increase of 15%. In the export of Pakistan textiles, fabrics and manufactured goods account for a major share. In 2013, China exported $1 billion 420 million to Brazil's fabrics, an increase of 4.4%, and exports of textiles and finished products amounted to 650 million US dollars, an increase of 9.2%.
