EU Textile And Clothing Label Bill

In April 20, 2011, the European Parliament and the Council of ministers reached a consensus on the proposed textile names and related labelling proposals proposed by the European Union.

New textile labels will pay more attention to new fiber names and

Novelty fiber

The development and renewal is aimed at encouraging innovation in the textile and garment industry, enabling consumers to benefit more quickly from innovative products.

It is noteworthy that members of the European Parliament (MEPs) require mandatory origin labels for textile products, and point out that the EU should form alliances with other countries that have strict regulations on labels of original products, such as the United States, Canada, Japan and so on.

The label of origin helps the product show its source while avoiding unnecessary mistakes and misleading labels.

However, before the informal agreement, the motion was opposed by individual member states (especially Italy), and the origin of the bill was also decided.

Label

The bill was shelved, but the parliament said it would actively pursue bills related to other labels.

Therefore, the compromise proposal is to make labels for products of "non-woven animal origin products"; non textile including leather and leather.

The label will help consumers distinguish the synthetic fur from the real leather when buying.

In addition, the Council agreed on the issue of origin labels.

European Union

A review and evaluation process will be held before December 30, 2013 to decide whether the motion is feasible.

The motion (deadline for assessment December 30, 2013) will provide consumers with detailed information on origin and other textile traceability information.

The evaluation report will decide whether or not to legislate according to the conclusion of the evaluation.

Other key points of the committee's report include:

(EU) the possibility of harmonization of nursing label requirements in the European Union;

EU uniform garment size system;

Social and environmental labelling;

• allergy and flammability instructions on clothing;

Whether there is a causal link between allergic reactions, coloring agents, fungicides, nanomaterials and so on.

The European Parliament will discuss the matter again at the Council meeting in May and plate it into other EU official languages in the near future.
