According to reports, the EU has imposed anti-dumping duties on Chinese leather shoes since October 7, 2006, and Wenzhou's footwear industry has been severely hit by exports to the EU. Some European orders have shifted to Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and other countries.

But at the end of the European Union's expectation of levying anti-dumping duties on Chinese leather shoes, a large number of European orders began to flow back from the end of last year.

The report quoted Xie Rongfang, executive director and Secretary General of Wenzhou shoe leather industry association as saying that since last year, the number of Wenzhou footwear products exported to the European Union has increased by more than 10% over the previous year. It is estimated that the number of leather shoes exported to Europe in Wenzhou will increase substantially this year.

Last year, Wenzhou exported 672 million pairs of footwear products, with an export value of US $3 billion 740 million.

While canceling anti-dumping duties on leather shoes in China, the EU has also introduced five monitoring measures for Chinese footwear products, namely, weekly key monitoring to ensure that there is no unfair behavior, the use of mandatory labels to import shoes products to identify origin labels, to strictly monitor whether Chinese shoe companies have infringed intellectual property rights, ask the Chinese government to open up high-end shoe retail market, and pay attention to the situation that Chinese footwear enterprises enjoy various kinds of government subsidies.
