An industry related survey showed that the national cotton planting area was 79 million 272 thousand mu, an increase of 4 million 628 thousand mu compared with the same period, an increase of 6.2%.

The survey was conducted nationwide in the middle and March of last year. The results of the survey in December 2010 showed that the national cotton planting area increased by 6.8% over the same period last year.
