According to the statistics of the China National Business Information Center, in the first three quarters of 2010, the retail sales of men's clothing in major retail enterprises increased by 28.92% over the same period last year, and the rate of increase was 5.36 percentage points over the previous year. The proportion in clothing retail sales was 18.7%, an increase of 0.8 percentage points over the same period last year.


Compared to the first three quarters of 2009, China's clothing sales in the first three quarters of 2010 showed a relatively high and stable growth trend.

The growth rate of clothing retail sales of key large retail enterprises in China is 3.08 percentage points higher than that of the overall sales, indicating that the consumption demand of clothing is relatively strong in the first three quarters. In the clothing market, the increase of retail sales of men's clothing is 28.92% percentage points higher than that of the 23.17% of the overall clothing market, which indicates that the consumption demand of men's clothing is higher in 2010.

From the growth rate of retail sales per month, the growth rate of retail sales in the first quarter and the second quarter of 2010 is obviously higher than that in the third quarter, which is mainly due to the change of sales in the same period last year.

In the first quarter and the second quarter of last year, it was deeply affected by the financial crisis, and the third quarter began to recover gradually. Under this background, the growth rate of the third quarter of 2010 was obviously lower than that of the first two quarters.


Holiday retail sales grew relatively fast.


From the growth rate of monthly retail sales, the retail sales of men's suits (men's suits and men's shirts) in the first three quarters of 2010 were lower than the overall growth rate of all kinds of clothing.

In the first three quarters of 2010, the sales volume of men's suits (men's suits and men's shirts) was 10.23% year-on-year, slightly below the overall growth rate of 10.38% of all kinds of garments.


However, from the comparison of the growth rate of retail sales of men's clothing and the overall retail sales of all kinds of clothing, the growth rate of men's retail sales in 1~2 months, May and August is higher than that of all kinds of garments.

From the unit price point of view, in the month of 1~2, May and August, the unit price growth rate was the lowest in the months of August, May and August. Compared with the first three quarters of the year, the men's clothing price of the major retail enterprises in the country increased by 15% compared with the same period last year. The growth rate was only 3.3%, 10% and 9.9% respectively, the slowest growth rate for 3 months.


The 3 months of 1~2, May and August are all holidays or college graduates taking office. This also reflects to a large extent that the price of men's clothing is still relatively high in China, and the consumption demand of college graduates is relatively high.


The growth of high-end brand shares is obvious.


According to the statistics of the China National Business Information Center, 2008~2009,

The total market share of the top ten brands was 34.25% and 32.14%, respectively. The total market share of the top ten brands in the men's shirt Market was 39.91% and 37.75%, respectively, and the brand concentration was relatively low, showing a downward trend.

From the first three quarters of 2010, the top ten brands of men's suits and men's shirts had little change compared with the previous ten years, and brand competition remained fierce.


While competition is still fierce, the share of high-end brands in men's wear market is increasing.
