Footwear size

All parts of the world have developed and built their own footwear size system to help consumers select shoes suitable for their feet.

More importantly, these size systems can serve as footwear standards for footwear manufacturers and shoemaker.

All kinds of size systems are developed in two main ways: one is to measure shoe last, and the other is to measure barefoot.

Two. Measure shoe last.

This is a system based on measuring shoe last. In fact, shoes are made of last mold.

Shoe planting has been developed from many aspects, including the fit of powder holders.

Manufacturing methods, average size, style and flow characteristics, and final functions of footwear.

In most cases, the length, width and circumference of the shoe are varied in order to achieve a certain type of fit and specify the fit of the foot type.

In real life, consumers must try a series of different sizes to find shoes suitable for their feet.

Although this is a bit of a fly in the ointment, this system is still the most commonly used system in the world, such as British code, French code and American code.

Three. Measure barefoot.

This is a new system developed in the early twentieth Century, reflecting the actual size of the wearer's feet.

The size of the shoe is measured from barefoot, so the size of the shoe is the size of the wearer. It is not affected by style, manufacture or other factors.

In this case, the manufacturer must make shoe last according to the size of barefoot. At the same time, loose position and activity space should be included on the shoe last.

For example, in the Japanese shoe code system, the actual length of shoes is usually longer than that of barefoot long 2cm (national shoes) to 2.5cm (pointed shoes) O, which is established and promoted by the International Standard Organization (ISO) and the economic cooperation and Development Organization (OECD).

China is also based on barefoot measurement.

Four. Mainland China code

In 1950s, China used a variety of shoe coding systems to make different footwear. Early adopters included traditional Chinese shoes, British codes, European codes, etc.

In order to standardize all kinds of shoe codes used in leather shoes, cloth shoes and plastic shoes, a nationwide census was conducted in 1956 to collect data on the sizes and circumference of feet of people from different provinces.

By 1970s, a standard shoe size system based on barefoot measurement was developed.

The system is similar to the Japanese code, with a difference of 1 cm per yard and half a yard of 1/2 cm.

In standard specifications, barefoot size is the basis. All different styles of shoe last must include adequate feet.

(1) length class

The level of code length in mainland China is as follows:

Five. Fatness

China's code has developed a set of fatness system. The girth difference of each model is 7 millimeters, while the half type is 3.5 millimeters.

The establishment of girth is suitable for different foot girth. The most commonly used fertilizer system (from slender to hypertrophic) is 11/2, 2, 21/2, 3, 31/2.

Shoe size and fatness are listed below.

Shoe number: 22 1/2.

Model 2: 221/2 (two)

Shoe number: 25, model 3:25 (three)

The models are represented in Chinese characters one or two, three or four and five.

Six, shoe size conversion

Because each country has its own shoe code system, there are different ways of calculating the conversion between shoe codes.

For the sake of simplification, the following conversion tables can be used as reference.

As pointed out earlier, other factors such as the shape of the last shape, the width of the sole, the quality of the shoe upper and other shoe materials, the methods of making and the way of shaping the shoe fit can affect the fit of the shoes.

Some necessary amendments should be made when applying these conversion tables.
